In May 2010 twelve of us did our first run at the Ennis polkafest and four came home with awards!
We are currently training on Tuesday morning at 5:15am. A group of us meet at the Studio and run 3.1 miles. We have a course and everyone is given the distance points. We have people of all ages from high school to upper 40's. Everyone runs at their own pace. I send weekly reminders and runners guide tips. We share testimonials and information on running as well as running equipment. We could add another day and time if we had more people intersted. We stay connected via e-mail. We have two 5ks coming up this fall we are training for. October 16th Midlothian Downhill Dash and November 20 Waxahachie CASA Speak up for Kids. It's never too late. I can modify anything if someone wants to join who can't do the full 3.2 yet. Our team is very supportive. Penny has shaved 5 full minutes off of her time from our first run about 6 weeks ago up to today!! We support eachother. I give tips. For example we are really working this month (October) on running SMARTER NOT HARDER! THis means thinking about breathing, strides, music, posture. If you can correct certain things you become faster. We run in a group and move safely by using reflective gear and NEVER leaving anyone behind. Our expercienced strong runners go back and run our newer runners in as support. Reminding them to breath and encouraging to jog the finish line. It's a great group of women and we are always looking for new members!
